Real Bedford Claim Vital Away Victory

By Louie Truman

Real Bedford clinched all three points after a tense battle away at Bury Town, with in-form Conor Tee deciding the match through a stunning lone strike.

The game started quickly, with both sides pushing forward. The Pirates added early pressure as the first free-kick and corner went their way. During the next ten minutes, Bury had a couple of chances of their own, but were unable to convert. In the 23rd minute, Simmons and Allen linked up for a great attack, but it was eventually saved and out for another corner.

Rob Sinclair’s side kept creating multiple chances throughout the match, regularly finding space in the final third. In the 33rd minute, Cartwright had a headed chance from a Stevens corner which just went over the bar. Conor Tee managed to break the deadlock minutes later with some super one-touch passing around Bury, which allowed Simmons to lay it off for Tee, who curled it into the bottom right. After taking the lead, Cole Skuse’s Bury created several half-chances just before half-time, yet again unable to convert.

Second Half

The second half started slightly slowly, but Rob Sinclair’s side created a couple of promising chances, which came from Stevens and Simmons. The Pirates kept picking up the pace, looking to find a second goal. Despite this, Bury started to challenge Real Bedford’s defence, testing their backline, starting to create a few opportunities and find a way back into the game.

Rob Sinclair made two changes in the 75th & 77th minute, with Lewis Hilliard being replaced by Jack Davies and Josh Allen being replaced by Joey Evans. Bury kept applying pressure in search of an equaliser during the final stages of the match. However, they struggled to find a way through as Real Bedford remained disciplined at the back, meaning the Pirates took all three points, coming away with a 1-0 away win.

Next up for the Pirates is a home fixture against Quorn in the Southern League Premier Central next Saturday. Come down and support the Pirates. Get your tickets here.
