Real Bedford can confirm that Brett Longden has departed the club to join Hitchin Town.

Brett arrived in the 2023/24 season and immediately established himself as an influential figure both on and off the pitch. His experience, leadership, and character made him a cornerstone of the dressing room.

During his time with The Pirates, Brett made over 50 appearances in all competitions, delivering consistent performances and memorable moments. Among them was his spectacular rocket of a goal against FC Romania on 9th April 2024.

Everyone at Real Bedford would like to thank Brett for his dedication, attitude, and contribution throughout his time with us.

Sinclair said: “Brett Longden… where do I even start? Firstly, what an incredible person. He’s been a brilliant character in the dressing room, the life of everything we do and someone everyone naturally gravitates towards. On the pitch, Brett plays with huge courage. He wants the ball, he wants responsibility, and he dictates games with real quality and composure.

From myself, the staff, and all the players at Real Bedford: thank you, Brett. We appreciate everything you’ve given to the club, and we wish you nothing but success at Hitchin. A top player and an even better person.”

Longden added: “Unfortunately it’s time for me to move on, It’s been the most enjoyable 2 years I’ve had in non-league. Coming in and helping to win step 5, and then last season, playing almost every game, and winning the league with 104 points! Leaving the group of lads is the hardest part as they are a special bunch.

The club is on the up and I’m glad I’ve helped in a small part. All the staff are amazing from top to bottom. Special mention to Pete who’s an unbelievable chairman and person. Lastly Sincs, the confidence you give the lads is unreal and thanks for convincing me to join - I’m really glad I did!”
