Anele Komani Joins the Pirates

Real Bedford Women are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Anele Komani, who has already shown her quality in appearances for the Pirates against London Bees and AFC Wimbledon.

Komani arrives following a spell with DUT FC in Durban, South Africa, bringing experience from the United States, Israel, Turkey and Portugal to Real Bedford’s midfield.

Her career has included spells with Clube de Albergaria in Portugal, Hapoel Petah Tikva in Israel and Kdz Ereğlispor in Turkey, as well as Fort Lauderdale United in the USL Super League. 

Before entering the professional game, Anele enjoyed a successful college career at the University of West Alabama. She was named Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year in 2017, earned multiple All-Conference honours and was selected for the university’s Women’s Soccer Team of the Decade. 

Having experienced a range of playing styles and football environments, she now begins a new chapter with the Pirates.

“Anele is an all-action midfielder who brings a real excitement to the game. She’s very good on the ball, but equally, her energy and intensity off it really stood out to us.

She’s been an excellent character around the training ground, has embraced the group really well, and has shown a fantastic attitude every time she’s stepped onto the pitch. We’ve got no doubt that energy and personality will translate into her performances for us, and we’re really looking forward to seeing her get out there and show what she can do.”

Anele said:

“I’ve had the opportunity to play in the U.S., Israel, Turkey and Portugal, gaining experience in different football environments. Most recently, I was in Durban, South Africa, playing for DUT FC.

I’m really excited for this next chapter and grateful for the opportunity to join Real Bedford. I’m eager to get going and give my best for the team.”
