Real Bedford Women return to the Ledger Stadium on Sunday 20th September as we welcome Portsmouth for our latest FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division fixture. The Pirates will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at AFC Wimbledon. 

Real Bedford have collected six points from their opening four league fixtures, with victories over Cheltenham Town and Swindon Town. Portsmouth also have six points, having played one game fewer, setting up an intriguing meeting between two sides looking to build momentum.

OPPOSITION FOCUS

Portsmouth arrive in Bedford following a difficult 2025/26 campaign in Barclays Women’s Super League 2. Pompey finished 12th with 14 points from 22 matches, recording four wins and two draws as they were relegated to the Southern Premier Division. 

Their return to the third tier began with a narrow 1-0 defeat at Fulham, but they have responded emphatically. A 4-0 home victory over Swindon Town was followed by another 4-0 win away at Plymouth Argyle last Sunday, giving them eight goals and two clean sheets across their last two league outings. 

Pompey currently sit fifth in the table, one place above the Pirates on goal difference. With eight goals scored and just one conceded in their opening three league matches, the visitors will provide a strong test for Real Bedford at both ends of the pitch.

GETTING TO THE LEDGER STADIUM

Fans travelling via the M1 should leave the motorway at Junction 13 before joining the A421 Bedford Bypass. Continue on the A421 before taking the A603 Sandy exit. The Ledger Stadium is approximately 200 yards on the left-hand side of Meadow Lane. Follow the Real Bedford signage upon turning onto Meadow Lane. Sat Nav: MK44 3LW

PARKING

Limited parking is available immediately before the Ledger Stadium on the left-hand side. An overflow car park is also available immediately on the right as you enter Meadow Lane. Supporters are encouraged to arrive early or travel together where possible.
