Whitelock & O’Meara Join The Pirates

Real Bedford Women continue to strengthen their squad with the signings of Lily Whitelock and Marcie O’Meara.

Lily Whitelock has been playing football from a young age, and from the age of 16, she started playing first-team football for Ashford and Cheshunt, alongside playing at college. Whitelock is a forward who developed her game at the Under-21’s Arsenal academy, gaining some valuable experience. She featured in the FIFA Blue Stars tournament before joining Watford Under-23’s.

Her football started to develop, and she earned opportunities with the first team. Whitelock joined the London Bees on loan from Watford. During the 24/25 season at London Bees, Whitelock made 13 appearances, managing five goals and five assists. A standout performance was Whitelock scoring two goals in London Bees’ 6-2 away win over Chesham United.

This season, Lily has made 21 appearances for the London Bees, scoring 7 and assisting 9. Lily Whitelock will have a positive impact on the team, she offers a consistent goal threat through her intelligent movement, strong work rate, and composure in front of goal.

On joining the club, Lily Whitelock said:

“I’m really excited to be joining Real Bedford for the rest of the season. I’m looking forward to contributing my strengths and working hard for the team, while also continuing to keep improving as a player on and off the pitch.”

Midfielder Marcie O’Meara started playing football at the age of 10. She had a few seasons that were disrupted by Covid, and she joined Essex RTC at U14’s and spent two valuable seasons improving her game. During her time at Essex RTC, she came up against the likes of Brighton, Chelsea and Arsenal.

After playing against Arsenal, O’Meara got scouted and made the move to the academy. Whilst at Arsenal, O’Meara progressed from the Under-16’s to the U21’s. Marcie O’Meara went on to win the PGA Under 21’s league and the Capital Cup with Arsenal Under 21’s. During the first half of this season, Marcie O’Meara was dual-signed with Watford. She’s made 14 appearances, which included a start in their 5-0 league win against Billericay Town.

During her spell at Watford, O’Meara gained valuable experience. Marcie O’Meara is a composed and versatile midfielder, known for her tactical intelligence and ability to control the game. Her decision-making and adaptability will make a positive impact at Real Bedford, strengthening their midfield.

On joining the club, Marcie O’Meara said:
