Cunnison & Lane Join The Pirates
Real Bedford Women boost their squad with the additions of commanding defender Bea Cunnison and dynamic forward Izzy Lane.
Bea Cunnison
Bea joins us on Dual-Registration with Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season. Cunnison started at the age of nine, playing for MK Dons for seven years under the coaching of Charlie Bill, who is the current head coach of Real Bedford Women.
Cunnison went on to join the Tottenham Hotspur Women Academy in 2023, signing from MK Dons and initially featuring for their youth sides. During the 2024/25 campaign, Cunnison had 21 appearances in the Professional Game Academy League. She played as a centre-back and scored five goals. Cunnison also played for the Tottenham Women’s Under-21s setup, which shows her progression through elite youth ranks.
Cunnison is physically strong and highly competitive in aerial duels, giving her a commanding presence in central defence. Her pace and overall athleticism allow her to track runners effectively and step into midfield when required, adding versatility to her defensive role.
Bea Cunnison’s signing will have a positive impact for the Pirates, alligning closely with Real Bedford’s upward trajectory. Her defensive qualities, set-piece threat and experience within an elite academy system, position her as a player with the potential to make an immediate impact, while also offering significant scope for further development.
On joining the club, Bea Cunnison said:
“I’m currently exploring new challenges with Real Bedford. I’m continuously growing and becoming better with each day that goes past, and I’m so excited for my future at this club.”
Izzy Lane
Lane began playing football at a young age with youth clubs, initially representing Enfield Rangers before moving into more structured development environments.
Izzy Lane played for MK Dons Under 14’s and Oxford United Under 16’s before developing her game at the Tottenham Hotspur Women’s academy, working through their youth system.
Izzy played in the Under-21s squad and progressed to the senior set-up. She made appearances for Tottenham Hotspur Women, playing at the Emirates and the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium. Izzy Lane’s competitive outings included the FA Women’s Continental Cup, where she scored and assisted.
After her development in England, Izzy moved to the United States to become a student athlete at the University of Delaware; she played in the NCAA Division 1. During the 2022 season, Izzy Lane started the season strongly and was named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie Team after leading her team with goals and assists. Lane also won the AAC Championship with UTSA, who were the first ‘soccer’ team to win the Championship in the program since joining the league.
During her college career, Lane continued to develop as a forward and winger, standing out for her attacking contributions. Izzy Lane is deployed as a forward / attacking winger, known for quick attacking transitions, clinical finishing and the ability to play on either flank or through the middle.
Upon joining, Lane said:
“I’m excited to be joining Real Bedford for the rest of the season. The team have been so welcoming, the quality is high, and I can’t wait to get started”
Welcome to the Pirates, Bea and Izzy.
