Real Bedford Women are delighted to strengthen the squad with the arrival of defender Millie Curnyn from Aston Villa and winger Molly Weaver, who joins the Pirates on loan from Birmingham City.

Millie arrives at Real Bedford with an impressive footballing background, having spent the majority of her development within the Aston Villa academy alongside a spell with Birmingham City.

She first joined Aston Villa at the age of five, progressing through the club’s youth setup from U6 to U12 level between 2012 and 2017. Millie then moved to Birmingham City, where she spent two seasons before returning to Villa in 2020.

Following her return, Millie continued her development through Aston Villa’s U16 and U21 sides, remaining with the club until 2026.

Her performances at club level also earned recognition on the international stage. Millie was involved in the England youth setup from U12 through to U17 level, making appearances for the Young Lionesses at U16 and U17 level against opposition including Belgium, Portugal and Germany.

The defender now begins the next chapter of her career with Real Bedford and is excited by the ambition and direction of the club.

Speaking after joining the Pirates, Millie said:

“I’m incredibly proud and grateful to join this football club. I’m looking forward to putting on the shirt and getting going. The ambition the club has is what really drew me in, and I can’t wait to hopefully help the team achieve its goals and have a successful season.”

The exciting wide player arrives at Real Bedford after progressing through Birmingham City’s academy system. Millie began her football journey with Solihull Moors, where she spent around three years before joining the Blues academy at the age of 13.

She went on to represent Birmingham City at U14 and U16 level before earning an U21 contract and continuing her development within the club’s pathway.

Millie enjoyed plenty of success during her time with the U21s, helping Birmingham City win the PGA Cup in back-to-back seasons. Blues defeated Leicester City to lift the trophy in the 2024/25 campaign before successfully defending the cup against Brighton & Hove Albion in 2025/26.

Now, Millie is looking forward to the next step in her development with Real Bedford and the opportunity to contribute to the team while on loan this season.
