Real Bedford can provide the following update on the recovery of Shaheim Ward, Jack Davies, Josh Setchell and Alfie Mumford, as well as welcome the return of Jack Snelus and Mo Ahmed following their respective ACL knee injuries.

With players at different stages of their rehabilitation, the focus remains on supporting their recovery and ensuring each is ready for the demands of training and competitive football. All anticipated return dates remain subject to progress.

Shaheim Ward

Shaheim ruptured three ankle ligaments and sustained a high ankle sprain. An initial consultation has resulted in a recommendation for surgery, with a second opinion being sought before a decision is made.

Further consultation will help establish the next steps and provide a clearer indication of his likely recovery period. While some players have recovered from similar injuries without surgery, Shaheim’s treatment will be guided by specialist advice.

A return date cannot be confirmed at this stage, although he could face several months on the sidelines.

Jack Davies

JD is continuing his rehabilitation after suffering a pelvic fracture in our 2025/26 play-off final against Spalding United. He is following a structured return-to-play programme, with a return to training currently targeted for October.

His progress through the remaining stages of that programme will determine when he is ready to rejoin training. That will mark an important step in his recovery as he builds towards a return to competitive action.

Josh Setchell

Setch has been managing an ongoing groin issue and has received a steroid injection as part of his treatment.

He is also following a return-to-play programme, with the aim of returning to training at the end of September. That timeframe remains dependent on his response to treatment and his progress through rehabilitation.

Alfie Mumford

Alfie has undergone groin surgery, and his recovery is progressing well.

He faces a longer period of rehabilitation, with recovery expected to take several months. Although there is no confirmed return date at this stage, the positive progress following his operation is encouraging.

Returning to the pitch: Jack Snelus and Mo Ahmed

The return of Jack Snelus and Mo Ahmed following their respective ACL knee injuries provides a welcome boost for the Pirates.

After lengthy rehabilitation, their return represents an important milestone for both players and a positive moment for the squad.
