Vote for Real Bedford Women’s August 2026 Player of the Month

RBFC Women · 4 September 2026

Real Bedford Women made an encouraging start to the new campaign, recording three victories from four competitive fixtures during August.

The Pirates opened their FAWNL Southern Premier season with a 3-1 win at Cheltenham Town before facing Fulham at the Ledger Stadium. Charlie Bill’s side then responded with an emphatic 5-1 League Cup victory over Northampton Town and finished the month by beating Swindon Town 2-1.

Four players have been shortlisted for our August Player of the Month award: Melis Mehmet, Dré Georgiou, Zynia Delglyn and Blue Bartlett-Antwi.

Melis Mehmet

Mehmet enjoyed a productive month in front of goal, scoring three times across the Pirates’ opening four fixtures.

She reacted quickest to a rebound to double the lead against Cheltenham before finding the net against Fulham with a clever finish through the goalkeeper’s legs. Mehmet completed the month by coming off the bench to score in the 5-1 League Cup victory over Northampton. Read the Cheltenham match report

Dré Georgiou

Georgiou brought composure, experience and technical quality to the heart of the Real Bedford midfield.

Her range of passing helped the Pirates control possession and build attacks, while her dangerous set-piece delivery created several opportunities. Georgiou twice came close to providing an assist at Cheltenham, with Blue Bartlett-Antwi and Lily Whitelock both striking the woodwork from her deliveries.

Zynia Delglyn

Delglyn produced the standout individual performance of the month with a brilliant hat-trick against Northampton Town.

Two composed first-half finishes put the Pirates firmly in control before she completed her treble following the interval. Delglyn then scored the decisive goal against Swindon, forcing the ball home to secure another important victory. Read about Delglyn’s hat-trick

Blue Bartlett-Antwi

Bartlett-Antwi made an immediate impact following her summer arrival.

The defender produced an assured performance on her competitive debut at Cheltenham, striking the crossbar before smashing home the stoppage-time goal that secured a 3-1 victory. Her strength and aggression added a commanding presence to the Pirates’ back line.
