Sinclair praises togetherness after testing weeks

RBFC Men · 5 November 2026 · By Sebastian Hendrix

Rob Sinclair believes the fight shown in Tuesday night’s victory at Anstey Nomads must be the starting point for Real Bedford as they prepare to face Rushall Olympic at the Ledger Stadium.

The Pirates responded to three successive defeats by coming from behind to win at Anstey Nomads, with Sinclair praising the commitment of his players on a night when they needed to produce a reaction.

“After falling behind early, the group showed tremendous fight, courage and togetherness,” he said. “It wasn’t always our most fluid performance, but every player gave absolutely everything and found a way to win the game. That is something they should be incredibly proud of.”

The victory followed a frustrating spell for Bedford, beginning with a 1-0 defeat against Stourbridge in their previous home fixture. Despite seeing plenty of the ball after conceding early, the Pirates struggled to turn possession into clear opportunities.

“We never really threatened them with our attacking play or created the opportunities needed to get back into the game,” Sinclair reflected.

A disappointing afternoon away at Worcester City followed, leaving the manager clear about the need for improvement.

“We know the standards we expect from ourselves, and we fell well below them that afternoon,” he said. “We needed a reaction against Anstey on Tuesday night, and the players gave us one.”

With Rushall next to visit the Ledger Stadium, Sinclair wants his side to combine Tuesday’s determination with more effective work in possession.

“We now have to build on that victory,” he said. “The determination and effort we showed at Anstey must always be there, but we also need to play with greater quality and purpose when we have the ball."

“Rushall will provide us with another really tough challenge, and we’ll need both sides of our game if we’re going to get the result we want.”

Sinclair also thanked the supporters who travelled to Worcester and Anstey, recognising their backing during a challenging period and calling for that support to continue at home.

“Your support during a difficult period has meant a huge amount to the players and staff,” he said. “Please get behind the team again today from the first whistle to the last.”
