Real Bedford can confirm the signing of talented defender Scarlett Williams. The 21-year-old has already featured for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Watford and Portsmouth, as well as playing for Wales Under-19’s.
Williams was an academy graduate at Tottenham Hotspur, making her senior debut for the club in December 2021. She featured twice for the North London outfit in the 2021/22 Women’s Super League (WSL) season.
In the summer of 2022, the defender moved on a season-long loan to Watford Women. After limited game time at the Hornets, Williams made the switch to Billericay Town in January 2023 on a dual registration.

After making 12 appearances for Billericay, she joined Portsmouth Women in March 2024. She featured three times as Pompey secured promotion to the FA Women’s Championship, earning herself a professional contract in July 2024.
Upon the expiry of her professional contract with Portsmouth, Williams trialled for Real Bedford Women, impressing in pre-season matches against Cambridge United and Loughborough Lightning.
The defender also comes with experience in the international setup at Wales, featuring for the country’s Under-19’s side.

On joining, Williams said:
“I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the team during pre-season, and I can’t wait to play tier three football for such an ambitious club like Real Bedford”
Charlie Bill said:
“She brings a wealth of experience playing in a championship environment. We felt she could be a good addition in terms of her professionalism and a top quality defender who can play across the backline. She has been a valuable addition across pre-season.”
Williams will be a part of Bill’s squad for the start of the 2025/26 FAWNL Southern Premier Division campaign, which begins on Sunday 17th August at AFC Wimbledon.
Welcome to the Pirates, Scarlett.
