The Pirates had a good start to the game, having the first attack and corner of the game, which Burnley defended well. Shortly after this, Burnley’s Aimee Kelly had a shot on goal, but it was well saved by Meollo. The hosts managed to take the lead in the 23rd minute through Kelly, who managed to get past multiple defenders before releasing a strike into the top right corner from long range.

The Clarets managed to double their lead, with Kelly scoring a brace. Kelly showed her pace once again as she raced onto a poor back pass and calmly slotted the ball into the net.

Real Bedford responded well after falling 2–0 behind. Puddick had a shot which went wide, and Logie also had a shot which was narrowly wide. However, Lou Roberts’ side was unlucky not to be 3-0 up before the break due to hitting the post. A well-weighted pass from Heidi sent Cairns through, but she was unlucky to see her effort crash off the frame of the goal.

Second Half

Ten minutes into the second half, the Pirates look the stronger side, taking control of the play. In the 58th minute, Bensted took a shot which was saved by the Burnley keeper. Despite this, Burnley scored their third goal on the hour mark to put the result beyond the Pirates. After a clever one-two with Kelly, Heidi calmly tucked the ball into the bottom-right corner from seven yards.

Real Bedford didn’t give up, quickly attacking and creating their best chance. Beron Grant pushed forward, but Logie couldn’t reach her cross. Charlie Bill turned to the bench in the 67th minute with Chloe Logie and Jess Evans being replaced by Lucy Wood and Hannah Warren. Burnley scored their fourth in the 88th minute. The full time whistle blew, and Charlie Bill’s side exited the competition in the Round of 16.
