OPPOSITION FOCUS

Oxford United have made an outstanding start to the campaign, winning all eight league matches to lead the Southern Premier Division with 24 points.

The U’s have scored 26 goals and conceded just once, opening a six-point advantage over second-placed Fulham, who have played one game fewer. Seven clean sheets underline the defensive challenge awaiting the Pirates on Wednesday.

Oxford’s most recent league outing brought a 2-1 victory at AFC Wimbledon on 18th October, following successive 1-0 wins against AFC Bournemouth and Swindon Town. They also progressed in the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday with a 5-0 victory at AFC Portchester.

That start follows a fourth-place finish last season, when Oxford collected 39 points from 22 matches, recording 12 wins, three draws and seven defeats.

The Pirates took four points from their two league meetings with Oxford last season and remain unbeaten against the U’s.

Real Bedford won the first encounter 4-1 at the Ledger Stadium on 21st September 2025, before the sides shared a 2-2 draw in Oxford on 19th April 2026.

Those results provide encouragement ahead of Wednesday’s trip.
