Assistant Manager Mark Ducket departs Real Bedford
Real Bedford are saddened to announce that Assistant Manager Mark Ducket has departed the club after four incredible years.
Known to many as ‘Ducks’, Mark joined the club right at the beginning of this journey, arriving shortly after Rob Sinclair’s appointment as his Assistant Manager. From day one, he became Rob’s trusted right-hand man, playing an instrumental role in helping build the foundations of what Real Bedford is today.
Over almost 200 games together in the dugout, Rob and Ducks shared unforgettable success, winning three league titles, lifting two county cups, and creating countless memories that will forever be part of the club’s story and history.
While the achievements speak for themselves, Ducks’ impact stretched far beyond results and silverware.
On the pitch, he pushed players to improve every day, and helped bring out the very best in everyone around him. His passion, dedication and relentless work ethic were key to the culture and success that has been built at the club.
Off the pitch, Ducks became a hugely respected and loved figure throughout Real Bedford. Whether it was players, staff, volunteers, supporters, or anyone who walked through the doors of the club, Ducks always made time for people and left a lasting impression.
A brilliant coach. An outstanding assistant manager. But more importantly, an incredible person.
Sinclair said: “It’s hard to put into words what Mark has meant to me personally and to everyone at Real Bedford over the last four years. We’ve been on an incredible journey together, winning three league titles, sharing so many special moments, and helping build something we’re all incredibly proud of.
Football is about people first, and Mark has been more than just an assistant manager. He’s been someone I’ve worked alongside every day, someone I’ve trusted, and someone who’s played a huge role in creating the culture and standards that have driven this club forward.
We’ve shared the highs, dealt with challenges together, and celebrated moments that will stay with us forever. I’ll always be grateful for his loyalty, hard work and friendship.
While it’s difficult to see him move on, I’m proud of everything we’ve achieved together and know he’ll be a huge success in whatever comes next. On behalf of everyone at Real Bedford, I’d like to thank Mark for everything and wish him and his family nothing but happiness and success for the future.”
Ducket on his departure: “Firstly, can I thank Rob for allowing me to come over and be his assistant for the last four years. It’s been an incredible journey, and as much as I’ve made huge sacrifices, I’ve loved every minute of it.
Secondly, can I thank Pete, Emma and Neil. They have been incredible to me personally and to my family, and I’m sure that with their vision and drive, the club will continue to develop and progress to where they want it to be.
Lastly, the players. I’ve had the best job coaching a group of lads who have been a joy to work with over the last four seasons. There have been so many great times, ones I’m sure I’ll cherish in later years. Three champion winning seasons and a play-off final. I wish them nothing but success in their careers going forward and in the future. Take care.”
Everyone at Real Bedford would like to thank Ducks for everything he has given to the club over the last four years. He leaves with the gratitude and respect of everyone connected with the club, and while he will be greatly missed, he will always remain a part of the club’s history and journey.
