Sinclair praises players’ courage ahead of Bromsgrove test
Real Bedford return to league action against Bromsgrove with Rob Sinclair calling on his side to show the intensity, quality and belief needed to meet another difficult challenge.
The Pirates returned to winning ways in their last league outing, beating Leiston 3-2 thanks to Josh Allen’s penalty in the final minute. Reflecting on the victory, Sinclair praised both teams for their contribution to an entertaining contest.
“Credit must go to Leiston, who played their part in an excellent game of football,” he said. “It was two good sides attacking each other and trying to win from the first minute until the last.”
Allen’s late winner secured an important three points, with Sinclair highlighting the composure and courage required to take responsibility at such a decisive moment.
“Josh Allen showed great courage to step forward and score the penalty in the final minute, securing an important three points for the team.”
Real Bedford’s FA Cup campaign then came to an end with a narrow 4-3 defeat away at Chesham United. While disappointed by the result, Sinclair was full of praise for the effort and determination shown by his squad.
“We were disappointed to lose because we wanted to continue progressing in the competition, but we couldn’t question the commitment of the players,” he said.
“They left absolutely everything on the pitch, showed tremendous courage and kept fighting until the final whistle. We were immensely proud of the whole group.”
Attention now turns to Bromsgrove, whose impressive start to the season has set up a demanding league fixture. Sinclair expects a strong test from a side strengthened by experienced players.
“Tim has made a lot of changes since last year, bringing in good experience and players who have won consistently at this level and above,” he said. “We know the quality they possess and the test they will provide, but it is one we are excited for.”
For Real Bedford, the focus is on matching that challenge and delivering a performance that meets the squad’s own expectations.
“We will need to perform with intensity, compete throughout the pitch and show the quality and belief to impose ourselves on the game,” Sinclair added.
“These are the fixtures we look forward to, and we’re determined to produce a performance that reflects the standards we set ourselves.”
Sinclair also thanked the travelling supporters who backed the team at Chesham and urged them to bring that same support to today’s fixture.
“Your backing was brilliant and hugely appreciated. Please get behind the team again today from the first whistle to the last.”
