Real Bedford Ladies got back to winning ways over Bowers & Pitsea

Two goals either side of half-time were enough to secure a bounce-back victory for The Pirates.

The game got off to a great start as the hosts managed to pick up a well-worked score inside the first 10 minutes. Lisa Millken threading a neat pass to Tash Fensome who took the ball across her body and smashed it into the top right for the opener.

15 minutes later The Pirates doubled their lead. Amber Smith produced a wicked ball into the area, initially met by Fensome. However, under pressure from Bowers's defenders, the ball spilt out to Cesca Partridge who smashed it home to double Bedford’s lead.

Second Half

After the break, the home side continued their impressive form in front of goal. Amber Smith was once again making headway down the touchline. Smith then cut the ball back to Gemma Croucher, who struck it well. Her chance however reverberated against the crossbar, falling fortuitously into the path of Tash Fensome who guided it home for her second of the afternoon.

Real Bedford got their fourth and final in fine fashion. Zara Carroll receiving the ball from Lauren Coppin 35 yards out, before attempting an audacious shot first time. The club captain rifled the top corner adding a finishing touch to a player of the match performance.

Bowers and Pitsea got their best chance very late on in the match. After a mistimed challenge in the box, the referee pointed to the spot awarding the visitors a penalty. Millie Isherwood stepped up to the mark but dragged her effort well wide of Sarah Hudson’s goal.

The Pirates now have a free weekend before facing Royston away in the week.
