Josh Allen Joins the pirates

Real Bedford are delighted to announce the signing of Josh Allen. The 21-year-old attacker joins the Pirates after spending last season at AFC Sudbury and St Ives Town.

Allen joined Luton Town’s academy at the age of 12, after spending time at Ampthill Town and Kempston Rovers in his early years. He went on to sign a professional contract with the Hatters in July 2022.

Allen’s first loan spell came at Cray Wanderers in December 2022, making three appearances and scoring on his debut against Margate in the Isthmian Premier Division.

In 2023, Allen spent time on loan at Hitchin Town and Chesham United. His time at Chesham came to an end in January 2024, and, a month later, he signed for AFC Sudbury in the Southern League Premier Central.

The on-loan striker helped the Yellows narrowly avoid relegation from step three of the non-league pyramid, scoring eight goals in the second half of the season.

Allen joined Sudbury permanently in July 2024. In November 2024, he switched to St Ives Town, who played in the same division.

The Saints finished 16th in the Southern League Premier Central last season, with Allen scoring seven goals in 26 appearances.

On joining, Allen said:

“I can’t wait to be a part of such an ambitious club’s journey. I’m so excited to get out there in front of the fans, give it everything, and show exactly what I’m capable of.”

Rob Sinclair said:

“Josh is a signing we’re really excited about – not just for his ability, but for who he is as a person. He’s got a great attitude, works hard, and is hungry to improve. He’s a great fit for the group and the way we want to play.”

Allen will be part of Rob Sinclair’s squad for pre-season, which starts on 12th July when we host Corby Town. View the full pre-season fixture list here.

Welcome to the Pirates, Josh
