Dan Walker’s Debut Brace Gets Real Bedford Off to the Perfect Start.

Dan Walker’s brace of goals and a worldie from Kevin Owusu got Real Bedford’s season off to a perfect start with a 3 - 0 win over Rushden & Higham.

Real Bedford launched their league campaign with a home tie against Rushden & Higham United at McMullen Park in front of a record crowd of 276.

Manager Rob Sinclair spent the summer rebuilding the squad, and recent signings Kevin Owusu and Dan Walker put the team into a dream 2 - 0 lead after just four minutes.

It was a high-intensity start from the home team. After just two minutes, Owusu collected the ball from captain Luke Knight from the edge of the box and hit an unstoppable shot over the Rushden goalkeeper into the top right-hand corner.

With the crowd settling down from Owusu’s goal, Dan Walker doubled the lead. Luke Knight was again instrumental with a pinpoint pass down the left wing to Jordan Brown. Jordan took the ball past the Rushden defence before cutting the ball back to Dan Walker to open his account for Real Bedford.

Rushden responded to Bedford’s fast start and nearly pulled one back in the 35th minute as Ryan Lowell’s edge of the box shot beat Kyle Forster only to bounce back off the bar.

As half-time approached, Bedford continued to pressure the Rushden defence, and Archie Culley nearly made it three with a long-range effort just going over the bar.

Second Half

The second half started similar to how the first half ended. Bedford continued to pressure the Rushden defence while the away team were restricted to long-range efforts as they attempted to get back into the game.

As the half continued, Bedford’s dominance grew, with Dan Walker causing problems all afternoon for the Rushden Defence. And Dan’s persistence was rewarded in the 75th minute with a second goal.

Andy Sinclair launched a ball over the Rushden defence, which Dan picked up on the right wing before gliding past the Rushden defence and slotting the ball into the bottom right-hand corner.

It capped off an excellent afternoon for the Bedford striker, who proved a handful for the Rushden defence.

Bedford continued to pressure the Rushden defence but could not find a fourth goal.

Rob Sinclair’s team continue their campaign away against Buckingham on Saturday 13th August. This match will be available for international fans to stream live at 3.00pm BST.
