Sinclair looks ahead to top-of-the-table clash with Bury Town
Rob Sinclair wants Real Bedford to build on Saturday’s commanding win at Stamford as the Pirates prepare to face their closest league challengers, Bury Town, at the Ledger Stadium.
The Pirates head into the fixture following an impressive 4-0 victory away at Stamford on Saturday. Sinclair praised the contribution of the whole squad after a performance that combined attacking quality with defensive discipline.
“It was a very professional performance from the whole group,” he said. “We controlled the game throughout the afternoon, remained disciplined and played some wonderful football."
“To score four goals and keep a clean sheet away from home made it an extremely satisfying performance.”
That result followed a hard-fought draw against Bromsgrove Sporting in Real Bedford’s previous home outing. Having fallen behind, the Pirates continued searching for a way back into the game, with their patience and persistence eventually rewarded by an equaliser.
“After falling behind, we remained patient, kept believing and continued pushing until we found the equaliser,” Sinclair said.
“We always want to win our home games, but the determination the players showed to take something from a difficult afternoon was pleasing.”
Tonight’s visitors present another demanding test. Bury’s strong start has taken them into second place, setting up an eagerly anticipated contest against Sinclair’s league leaders.
“Bury have enjoyed an impressive start and arrive sitting second in the league, with us currently top,” he said. “They are a very good footballing side who will come here with confidence, and we have a lot of respect for the quality they possess.”
While the standings give the fixture added significance, Sinclair wants his players to concentrate on their own performance and the standards needed to compete against strong opposition.
“The league positions add extra interest to the occasion, but our focus must remain on ourselves,” he explained.
“We need to play with courage, match their intensity and show the quality and togetherness required to impose ourselves on the game. These are the fixtures we want to be involved in, and we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
Sinclair also thanked the travelling Pirates supporters who backed the team at Stamford.
With another important league fixture ahead, he hopes that support will help create a strong atmosphere at the Ledger Stadium tonight.
“Your support was brilliant and greatly appreciated by all the players and staff,” he said. “Please get behind the team again tonight and help create a great atmosphere inside the Ledger Stadium.”
