OPPOSITION FOCUS
Based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, Bury Town have quickly built on their return to Step 3 football. The Blues are managed by Cole Skuse, supported by assistant Paul Musgrove, with both committing to remain at the club for the 2026/27 campaign.
Promotion arrived in dramatic fashion in May 2025, when Ed Upson scored a 93rd-minute winner in the Isthmian North play-off final. A crowd of 2,139 witnessed Bury secure their return to Step 3 after a decade away.
The Blues subsequently finished 13th in the Southern League Premier Central in 2025/26, collecting 58 points from 42 matches. This season has brought a considerable improvement in results: nine wins from their opening ten league games have put them firmly among the early frontrunners. Their current record includes 19 goals scored and only eight conceded.
Bury began the league campaign with six consecutive victories before a narrow 1-0 defeat at Bromsgrove Sporting. They responded with a 1-0 home win against Hitchin Town, settled by Jamie McGrath, and followed that with a 2-1 victory at Bishop’s Stortford.
Their FA Cup campaign ended in the third qualifying round, with a 1-1 home draw against Spalding United followed by a 4-0 defeat in the replay. League form has been stronger, and Real Bedford can expect a demanding evening against opponents who have consistently found ways to collect three points.
