Match Preview: AFC Sudbury Women vs Real Bedford Women

Real Bedford Women continue their preparations for the 2025/26 season with an away trip to a familiar opponent. Charlie Bill’s side take on AFC Sudbury, who they faced twice during the 2024/25 campaign.

The match will be played at the MEL Group Stadium and kick-off at 2:00pm.

How to Get to the MEL Group Stadium

The MEL Group Stadium is easily accessible by car and can be located using the postcode CO10 7HN on a Sat Nav.

When you reach Bulmer Road in Sudbury, take the first right onto Brundon Lane. This leads to a narrow road where the ground can be found on the right-hand side. A large car park just outside the stadium is available for supporters.

The Opposition

AFC Sudbury Women finished seventh in the FAWNL Division One South East last season. In 22 matches, they won nine, drew seven and lost six, finishing on 34 points.

We played the Yellows twice in the league last season, winning one and drawing the other. The first of these was a dominant 4-0 win at the Ledger Stadium on 26th January 2025. Abbie Bensted, Leyla O’Brien and Amy McLean were the goalscorers on the day.

Two months later, we travelled to Sudbury knowing that a win would secure the league title. However, the Pirates were held to a 0-0 draw thanks to a top performance by Sudbury goalkeeper Nina Meollo.
