Lucy Wood JOINS Real Bedford

Real Bedford can confirm the signing of talented forward Lucy Wood. The 21-year-old joins the club with experience playing in the third tier. 

Wood is a versatile player who can play either as an attacking midfielder or a striker. In her early years, she spent time at Arsenal and Leicester City’s youth teams.

In the 2022/23 season, Wood moved on loan to MK Dons Women from Leicester City. In the FAWNL Southern Premier Division, the 21-year-old scored once in eight league appearances. 

At the start of the following campaign, Wood made the permanent switch to the Dons. The 2023/24 season saw her score four in 18 appearances.

After two years at MK Dons, Wood joined Rugby Borough in the summer of 2024. She helped her side finish fifth in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division, scoring three in 14 appearances.

On joining, Wood said: 

“I’m really excited to be here. I think the club has really exciting ambitions and it’s a group who I know are very hardworking and dedicated. Im looking forward to this season to challenge ourselves and push as far as we can!”

Bill said: 

“Lucy is a top quality player who we have worked with before, she shows superb technical ability and we are all looking forward to working with her again. Lucy is a player who shows such creativity on the ball and will increase our quality at the top end of the pitch.”

Lucy will join Charlie Bill’s side in preparation for the 2025/26 season, which is set to begin on Sunday 17th August.
