Late Logie Leveller Earns Pirates Precious Away Point
By Will Murray
Real Bedford Women earned a point away at high-flying Watford, thanks to a late equaliser from Chloe Logie. The result leaves the Pirates in third – four points behind AFC Bournemouth and Watford, who occupy top spot.
The hosts dominated the first-half, creating chances through Maddie Perry and Izzy Fisher who both came close in the early stages.
In the 10th minute, Flo Fyfe put the Golden Girls in front when she cut in from the left and scored at the near post past Erica Meale.
Madison Perry had the clearest opportunity in the 34th minute, when she headed over a Fyfe cross from close range.
Meanwhile, the Pirates had speculative efforts through Rhianne Rush and Breon Grant, but both attempts were unable to test Sophie Hillyerd.

    Second Half
Charlie Bill’s side significantly improved after half-time, pushing Watford back for extended periods for the first time in the game. Leyla O’Brien and Issy Bryant both looked dangerous, with the latter seeing her shot deflected for a corner in the 57th minute.
Five minutes later, Abbie Bensted came inches away from equalising when her effort was tipped onto the crossbar by Hillyerd. The rebound dropped on the goalline and was just cleared by the defender.
Watford had chances to double their lead through Lachante Paul and Megan Chandler, but the Pirates stood firm.
This allowed Logie to save a point for the Pirates when she poked home a low Grant cross from the right wing in the 85th minute – five minutes after coming off the bench.
Despite an end-to-end finish to the game, Real Bedford held on to secure a crucial away point, keeping them a point above Plymouth Argyle.
In his post-match interview, Bill said:
“This is a really tough place to go. Chloe came on the pitch and that’s what she does – she is a goalscorer and the movement is good to get in front of the defender.
I think a point was the least we deserved from this game.”
