Real Bedford Ladies produce comeback against St Albans City

The Pirates rode out a win against St Albans despite conceding early on, with well-worked goals from Erin Price and Cesca Partridge.

The hosts got the early goal, with a cross from Becky Shephard finding its way into the back of Sarah Hudson’s net. Despite the early setback, Real Bedford grew into the game and were rewarded after a moment of magic from midfielder Erin Price. After collecting a loose ball in the middle of the pitch, Price cut back onto her right and let fly, finding the bottom left corner from 30 yards out.

The spectacular finish seemed to lift the visitors, and soon after, Real Bedford found their second. A floated cross from Chloe Martin on the left flank was met by Cesca Partridge, who nodded it home for her 19th goal of the campaign.

Second Half

The game held firmly in the balance across the second 45, with neither side being able to find a decent chance throughout the half.

Despite being unable to add any goals to the tally, The Pirates did well not to concede, maintaining a perfect 14 wins out of their 14 league matches.

Attentions now turn to the Beds County Cup, as Real Bedford play host to Wootton Blue Cross in the semi-final on Sunday (2pm KO).
